Akosombo based Hydro Spikers secured a 3-1 victory over Kpong Young Stars in the week seven fixtures of the Akro-Ako Eastern Regional Volleyball league played at Odumase in the Eastern Region.
The first set was comfortably won by Hydro Spikers by 25 to 19, while they went on to win the second set by 28 to 26 to take a commanding two sets lead.
When Hydro Spikers thought they were about to run away with a three straight set victory, the Kpong Young Stars pulled a surprise by winning the third set by 25 to 23 to put the scores at 2-1.
However, Kpong Young Stars could not sustain the momentum from the third set as they had to bow to Hydro Spikers in the fourth set by 25 to 23.
The other male encounter witnessed, former league finalists’ Okere United Way from Adukrom beat Spartans Volleyball Club from Odumase by 3-2.
It was the team from Adukrom men won the first game by 28 to 26, before Spartans Club levelled up in the second game by winning by 25 to 17.
Okere United Way then went on to win the third set by 25 to 23 and Spartan club drew even by winning the fourth set by 25- 20.
Okere United Way then exhibited their superiority in the fifth set to win it 15 - 9 to carry the day.
It was a three straight win for the ladies from Kpong as they beat the ladies from Odumase by 3 sets to 1.
The Kpong ladies by 25 to 21,25 to 15 and 25 to 10 in the first, second and third sets respective to enjoy a comfortable victory.
