The Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) is set to celebrate its fifth anniversary this December with a spectacular five-day event combining basketball, fashion, and music in a grand showcase of African talent and creativity.
Scheduled from December 10 to 14 at the University of Ghana Basketball Court, this year’s festival embraces a special “5” theme to commemorate the milestone. Each day, starting from 3pm, will feature exciting games, live performances, and cultural displays under the banner “5 Days, 5 Countries, 5 Fashion Brands, 5 Performances.”
Hosted by the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate, ABF 2025 promises to deliver its most dynamic edition yet. Five countries are expected to compete for the prestigious ABF 5th Anniversary Trophy, bringing together some of the continent’s finest basketball players in a spirited display of skill and sportsmanship.
The celebration extends beyond the court with the ABF Fashion Show and Cultural Night, which will spotlight five outstanding African fashion brands. The event aims to celebrate heritage through contemporary style, blending traditional influences with modern designs.
Adding to the excitement, audiences will be treated to five live musical performances from leading African artists, highlighting the festival’s signature fusion of sport, art, and entertainment.
As part of the anniversary activities, the organisers have also introduced The Bitcoin Classics, a one-day basketball competition featuring top Ghanaian clubs. The event, scheduled for Thursday, December 11, will showcase the best of local basketball talent at the University of Ghana Basketball Court.
In just five years, the Africa Basketball Festival has evolved into one of the continent’s most vibrant cultural events, redefining the intersection of sports, music, and fashion. The 2025 edition, organisers say, will celebrate how far the festival has come while setting the stage for even greater heights in the years ahead.
