The Movement for Mahama (MFM) says it would defend, uphold and promulgate the vision and legacy of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, a leading of MFM, made this known during the launch of the website of the Movement in Accra on Friday.
He said the Movement would garner youth support, bolster existing blocs and attract fresh votes for an NDC victory in any election; thus complimenting the NDC National Campaign team’s activities.
Mr Ankrah further explained that MFM would act as a formidable youth and professional political advocacy group within the party and a supporting mouthpiece to engage the masses.
He said MFM would exemplify unique communication, branding expertise and innovative concepts for President Mahama and the great NDC.
He said since its inception barely three months ago, the Movement had been a force for good; protecting the interest of the NDC, President Mahama and significantly, reaching out to all especially the new breed of potential supporters, undecided and first time voters.
He said MFM had already through exemplary efforts, transparency, discipline and dedication, has been able to attract support and donations to mobilize resources, initiate events and garner support to compliment the tireless efforts of the National Campaign team of the party.
Mr Ankrah reiterated that the NDC won the election 2012 on merit because majority of Ghanaians had endorsed the party and its Presidential Candidate as the figures clearly shows.
He said MFM commends the efforts of all key stakeholders: the political parties, the electorate, the Electoral Commission, the media, the security forces and the various observer groups.
He acknowledged that the principle of good governance and transparency in Ghana's electoral process had been observed in the just ended elections.
He stated that phase one of the Movement’s mission had been a success; but it would be meaningless unless MFM grows from strength to strength; adding that they welcome new members to join the sheepfold.
He said operation Mahama 2016 had just began, and he called on the NDC not to be complacent but rather be confident in the future because President Mahama would live up to the values and principles instilled in him by his mentor and political father; the President J. E. A. Mills.
Mr Ben Akyena Brentuo, a member of the NDC's communication team, urged President Mahama to appoint competent people in to his next government to ensure that they deliver what would pave the way for an NDC's victory in 2016.
He thanked the media for giving the NDC a fair coverage during the 2012 elections.
Mr William Adzinyo, a leading member of MFM, assured Ghanaians that the Mahama led NDC government would not disappoint them.
He said the MFM would serve as a check on the NDC government to ensure that they execute all the manifesto promises and to rid the nation of the canker of corruption in any form.
