Chief Superintendent of Police Peter Baba, Brong Ahafo Regional Crime Officer has commended the electorate in the Region for comporting themselves and cooperating with the security agencies for peaceful elections on December 7.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Tuesday, he said there was no electoral violence even in some designated flashpoint areas in the Region before, during and after election.
Chief Superintendent Baba observed that Election 2012 was peaceful, successful and commended the security agencies for their excellent performance and for exhibiting professionalism during the period.
However, he pointed out that even though there were some arrests on the election day, such incidents were purely criminal cases and had nothing in connection with the elections.
Chief Superintendent Baba cautioned people peddling false information on Election 2012 to refrain from such acts and remain united to forge ahead with the national development effort.
He noted that the will of the people had prevailed in choosing a leader for the country, and therefore called on the leadership of political parties and their supporters who lost not to be disappointed but accept the President-elect John Dramani Mahama to ensure that the nation moved on peacefully in development.
Chief Superintendent Baba asked the other parties to join forces with President Mahama for the common purpose of national development.
He said the security agencies had not relaxed after Election 2012 but were complying with the directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Paul Tawiah Quaye to continue their patrols in the various districts to manage all post-election violence in the country promptly.
