The Durban FilmMart Institute is pleased to share that the official 2025 Industry Programme is now live and packed with powerful, cross-continental conversations shaping the future of African and Global South cinema.
Taking place from 18–21 July 2025 at the Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel in Durban, this year's programme, themed "Bridges Not Borders: Stories That Unite," presents a compelling line-up of industry-leading speakers, masterclasses, and networking events.
Some of the key global sessions include:
"Exhibitors and Distributors: Who is Building a Home for Global South Content?" – featuring senior representatives from Paramount Africa, Canal+, MAD Solutions, and NAAS.
"Latin American Visions" – a partnership with DW Akademie exploring non-traditional distribution models in Latin America with speakers from Ambulante, Taturana, and Nodo Sur.
"Archival Justice in the Global South" – a vital session convening stakeholders from across the continent and Latin America on reclaiming and protecting cultural archives.
Keynote Conversations with Dora Bouchoucha, Ramadan Suleman, and Oscar-winning director Roger Ross Williams.
In addition, the programme brings together co-production insights from Senegal, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands and Palestine; and critical conversations on inclusive casting, programming for global connection, and the financial sustainability of African film with contributions from Netflix, Sundance, Red Sea Film Fund, Documentary Africa, and many more.
