Position Overview
The Accounts Officer is responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, and supporting the Finance Department to ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. This role involves bookkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and supporting branch operations with timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Record daily financial transactions including payments, receipts, and journal entries.
Reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and branch accounts.
Process supplier invoices, expense claims, and staff reimbursements.
Maintain accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) ledgers, ensuring timely collections and payments.
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support payroll preparation for branch employees.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (tax, SSNIT, PAYE, VAT, etc.).
Provide accurate and timely financial reports to the Head Office.
Support internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation.
Monitor branch expenses and report variances against budget.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in accounting or finance (branch/field accounting experience is an advantage).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Excel.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and statutory compliance.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
