The Faculty of Business & Communication Arts plays a central role in developing future leaders in business, management, finance, marketing, media, communication, and the creative industries. We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced academic leader to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Business & Communication Arts.
Role Overview
The Dean will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the Faculty of Business & Communication Arts. The role is responsible for ensuring excellence in teaching, research, industry engagement, and student success across business, management, economics, finance, marketing, communication, media, and related programmes.
The Dean serves as the key link between the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Heads of Department, faculty members, students, and external stakeholders, ensuring the Faculty’s growth, relevance, and alignment with the University’s mission and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Faculty Development
- Provide vision and leadership for the Faculty, driving excellence in teaching, research, and professional practice.
- Lead faculty recruitment, mentorship, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across business, communication, and technology-related programmes.
- Drive the development of innovative, market-relevant academic programmes aligned with global business and communication trends.
2. Academic Programmes & Student Success
- Oversee curriculum development, review, accreditation, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences aligned with industry needs and employer expectations.
- Support student progression, retention, employability, and career readiness initiatives.
- Uphold academic integrity, assessment standards, and quality assurance frameworks.
3. Research, Innovation & Industry Engagement
- Promote a strong research culture in business, management, communication, and related fields.
- Encourage applied research, consultancy, and industry-driven projects.
- Strengthen partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and media organisations.
- Support faculty in securing research grants, consultancies, and external funding.
4. Resource & Financial Management
- Develop and manage the Faculty budget, ensuring efficient and responsible use of resources.
- Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities, including executive education and short courses.
- Monitor faculty productivity, performance metrics, and compliance with University policies.
- Actively seek corporate partnerships and sponsorships to support faculty initiatives.
5. Representation & External Engagement
- Represent the Faculty on University committees, accreditation panels, and professional bodies.
- Build strong relationships with industry leaders, alumni, employers, and external stakeholders.
- Promote international collaborations, exchange programmes, and global partnerships.
- Enhance the Faculty’s reputation locally and internationally.
6. Governance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Track and report faculty performance indicators and strategic outcomes.
- Support institutional planning and contribute to University-wide strategic initiatives.
- Oversee faculty workload allocation, evaluations, and academic governance processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- PhD in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Communication Studies, Media Studies, Marketing, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of academic experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Head of Department, Associate Dean, or Dean).
- Strong record of research, publications, and academic leadership.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and quality assurance.
- Demonstrated engagement with industry, professional bodies, or consultancy work.
