Description
A fast-growing, flexible-packaging manufacturer in Accra now seeks a high caliber HR Specialist for its Manufacturing Plant in Spintex.
The HR Specialist is responsible for maintaining HR policies, procedures, and systems to support the plant’s operational needs. This role ensures that the workforce is effectively recruited, trained, managed, and motivated while complying with labour laws and health & safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for plant positions (machine operators, quality control staff, maintenance, supervisors, and administrative roles).
- Coordinate with department heads to define job requirements and selection criteria.
- Prepare and post job advertisements on relevant platforms.
- Conduct screening, interviews, and background checks.
- Organise onboarding programs, plant tours, and induction training for new hires.
- Maintain accurate employee records in both digital and physical formats.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, and ISO/quality management requirements.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports to labour authorities.
- Coordinate technical skills training for operators and safety training for all staff.
- Maintain training records for ISO and audit compliance.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employees’ HR-related concerns.
- Manage disciplinary procedures, grievances, and conflict resolution fairly and promptly.
- Assist managers in setting KPIs and monitoring performance improvement plans.
- Work with the Accounts Department to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Maintain attendance, overtime, and leave records for payroll inputs.
- Manage employee benefits programs (health insurance, uniforms).
- Collaborate with the HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) team to ensure workplace safety compliance.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and accident investigations.
- Promote employee wellness initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
- 5+ years HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of local labour laws and HR best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Problem-solving mindset and strong organisational skills.
