Job Purpose:
This Job role will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, servicing, and safe operation of the company’s fleet and equipment. This role ensures that all vehicles and machinery are well-maintained, compliant with safety regulations, and readily available for use.
Responsibilities
Fleet Management: Monitor and manage the company’s fleet, including scheduling regular maintenance and servicing. Ensure that all vehicles are inspected, safe, and meet operational requirements. Track and report on fleet utilization, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles, equipment, and machinery. Respond to breakdowns and coordinate repairs with external vendors or internal technicians.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular vehicle inspections, monitor adherence to safety policies, and recommend improvements.
Record-Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all fleet and equipment maintenance activities. Document repairs, inspections, and parts inventory for audit and compliance purposes.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Assist in budgeting for fleet maintenance, repairs, and fuel expenses. Optimize costs by negotiating with suppliers and seeking competitive pricing for services and parts.
Vendor and Contractor Management: Coordinate with vendors for parts, repairs, and maintenance services. Evaluate vendors’ performance and ensure adherence to service agreements.
Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency procedures for vehicle breakdowns and repairs. Support emergency operations with fleet availability and maintenance as required.
Team Coordination and Training: Work with drivers and operators to promote best practices in fleet management and maintenance. Guide safe driving and vehicle handling practices.
