Key Responsibilities
-Prenatal Care
- Perform routine assessments, including physical exams and diagnostic tests.
- Monitor the health and development of the fetus and the well-being of the mother.
- Provide counseling on maternal nutrition, prenatal vitamins, exercise, and lifestyle choices.
- Educate expectant mothers about labor, delivery, and newborn care.
- Labor and Delivery:
- Provide continuous support and care during labor, including pain management techniques.
- Monitor fetal heart rate and uterine contractions, identifying any signs of complications.
- Assist with the delivery of the baby and provide immediate care to the newborn.
- Facilitate skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding initiation immediately after birth.
- Postpartum Care
- Conduct post-delivery assessments of the mother and newborn.
- Provide education on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
- Monitor for any postpartum complications and provide referrals as necessary.
Patient Education and Counseling
- Educate patients about family planning, reproductive health, and informed decision-making.
- Offer emotional support and counseling through pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period.
Collaboration and Referral
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Refer patients to obstetricians or other specialists when high-risk conditions are identified.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and ethical standards.
