Description
A fast-growing, flexible-packaging manufacturer in Accra now seeks a high caliber Quality Assurance Senior Specialist for its Manufacturing Plant in Spintex.
Summary
To establish, monitor, and improve the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with ISO/BRC, GMP, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain QA documentation (SOPs, work instructions, checklists, policies).
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are tracked and implemented.
- Plan and conduct internal audits across departments to ensure QMS compliance.
- Prepare for and support external audits (ISO 9001, BRC Packaging, HACCP, FDA, or customer audits).
- Monitor hygiene and GMP practices in production, warehouse, and ink kitchen.
- Oversee quality checks during printing, lamination, slitting, and pouching processes.
- Approve first-off samples, production trials, and final product releases.
- Review and analyse test results for raw materials, inks, adhesives, and finished packaging.
- Support troubleshooting of recurring product defects or process deviations.
- Investigate customer complaints, and prepare analysis reports and corrective action plans.
- Ensure document control (approvals, updates, and distribution).
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations in flexible packaging.
- Review and interpret customer specifications to ensure product conformity.
- Prepare and maintain certificates of analysis (CoA), compliance declarations, and audit documentation.
- Lead root cause analysis and quality improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other tools.
- Recommend process enhancements to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and increase product reliability.
- Prepare KPI dashboards for quality trends (customer complaints, defect rates, audit results).
- Support cross-functional teams in new product development and qualification.
- Conduct staff training on QMS, GMP, food safety, and hygiene.
- Train and mentor junior QA officers and production staff on quality standards, testing methods, and inspection protocols.
- Promote a strong quality culture across departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or Polymer/Chemical Science.
- 5+ years’ QA experience in packaging, FMCG, or printing.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, BRC, HACCP, GMP.
- Excellent auditing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Analytical and able to implement structured problem-solving.
