JOB PURPOSE:
The Sales Merchandiser is responsible for driving sales and creating brand visibility for the company’s soap and detergent products. This involves engaging customers to promote products, conducting in-store promotions, arranging displays, ensuring product availability, and maintaining strong relationships with retailers and distributors
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Promotion & Customer Engagement
- Actively engage customers in outlets, supermarkets, and markets to promote products.
- Conduct product demonstrations, free sampling, and explain product features and benefits.
- Influence buying decisions by addressing customer questions and concerns.
- Share promotional offers and encourage repeat purchases.
2. Merchandising & Product Display
- Arrange and display products neatly on shelves, stands, and promotional areas to maximize visibility.
- Ensure shelves are always stocked, clean, and aligned with company merchandising standards.
- Monitor stock rotation, check expiry dates, and report damaged or expired goods.
- Place and maintain promotional materials such as posters, wobblers, shelf talkers, and banners.
3. Retailer/Distributor Relations
- Build and maintain positive relationships with shopkeepers, store managers, and distributors.
- Monitor stock levels at outlets and inform the Sales Supervisor about replenishment needs.
- Secure additional shelf space and negotiate for better product placement.
4. Market Feedback & Intelligence
- Gather feedback from customers and retailers on product performance, pricing, and quality.
- Track and report competitor activities, promotions, and pricing strategies.
- Provide recommendations to improve sales and visibility.
5. Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Meet assigned sales and visibility targets within the territory.
- Submit daily/weekly reports on activities, sales performance, and challenges.
- Keep records of product movement and customer feedback.
