JOB OVERVIEW
A global boutique firm specializing in executive search and strategic advisory services is undertaking a multi-country research initiative focused on religious dynamics across Africa. As part of this broader program, the current phase seeks to deliver an in-depth analysis of evangelical sociopolitical dynamics within Ghana. This is a contract, project-based engagement, ideal for a highly analytical and context-aware researcher who can provide nuanced insights into how evangelical movements operate within formal and informal systems of influence, while situating Ghana’s landscape within wider regional trends where relevant. The selected researcher will lead the Ghana-focused component of the project, delivering a comprehensive and well-structured analysis of evangelical organizations and their interaction with governance frameworks, power structures, and digital ecosystems. This role demands a strong blend of academic rigor and practical insight, with the ability to translate complex sociopolitical dynamics into clear, actionable intelligence for an international client.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct in-depth, high-quality research on evangelical movements and organizations across Ghana
- Analyze how these organizations engage with national legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks
- Map informal authority structures, influence networks, and key actors shaping religious and sociopolitical activity
- Examine the role of digital media and online platforms in driving messaging, mobilization, and influence
- Identify regional connections, cross-border dynamics, and broader African trends where relevant
- Gather, evaluate, and synthesize data from academic literature, policy documents, media sources, and field inputs
- Where appropriate, engage with local stakeholders, subject matter experts, or practitioners to enrich findings
- Produce a comprehensive, well-structured written report within the agreed project timeline
- Provide periodic updates, insights, and interim findings throughout the engagement
Candidate Profile
- Based in Ghana with a strong understanding of the local sociopolitical and religious landscape
- Academic background in sociology, political science, religious studies, anthropology, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in qualitative research, analysis, and report writing
- Demonstrated knowledge of evangelical or broader Christian movements within Ghana and/or Africa
- Solid understanding of governance systems, legal frameworks, and informal power dynamics
- Familiarity with digital media ecosystems, including online discourse and influence patterns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality outputs
Desirable Experience
- Prior academic or professional research experience in a related field
- Access to, or ability to engage, relevant local stakeholders and networks
- Regional exposure or knowledge extending beyond Ghana to other African markets
- Experience working with international clients, consultancies, or research institutions
