In an industry often seen as tough on newcomers, releasing a debut is a major milestone.
It’s therefore no surprise Kelalie, a rising Afrobeats star, is ecstatic about his new single Love Doctor, which dropped on Friday, August 1, 2025.
Kelalie describes Love Doctor as a reflection of his artistry, crafted to showcase his signature style - confident, romantic, and rhythm-driven - without focusing on a particular audience
Love Doctor tells the story of falling head over heels in love, capturing the drama and romance of young relationships. In a chat with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, August 11, 2025, Kelalie mentioned that Love Doctor holds significance as it was the first track he recorded after honing his skills in vocal recording and mixing.
“It was all about putting my Lover Boy brand out there in the most appealing way possible. I didn’t have anyone in mind when recording, I just wanted to create something that spoke to my brand and makes people move,” he said.
With his music journey beginning four years ago, Kelalie told Graphic Showbiz he picks lots of inspiration from his family.
His mother’s role as a church singer inspired him to join the choir, school band and eventually lead praise and worship sessions.
“Performing on stage and seeing the positive effect my music had on people made me want to take it seriously,” he said.
Kelalie is gearing up to release his Lover Boy EP, which will feature some of his unreleased songs including Gidi Gidi and Stand Tall.
He disclosed his influences include Nigerian sensation Rema, whose youthful innovation inspires him, Ghana’s own KiDi, whom he hopes to collaborate with one day, as well as Nigerian singer Oxlade.
Looking ahead, he hopes to cross borders with his music, earn awards, and build a brand that inspires other artistes to embrace their unique talents.
“Expect more Afrofusion, heartfelt songwriting, and performances that invite people into my Lover Boy world,” he assured.
