Ayisatu Owen international School in Techiman which started in 1997 with four pupils has been adjudged the best private school in the town having placed first in the last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The school presented 25 candidates for the examination.
Mr Godfred Axolu, Techiman Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service (GES) made this known when a team of 14 US students from St Jonshburg Academy paid a visit to GES Directorate in the Techiman Municipality.
The trip was funded by FOR-ONE-WORLD, a US-based non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Mr Axolu said the GES is having about 83,427 basic schools in the private and public sectors in the Techiman North and Techiman South Districts.
He commended Ayisatu Owen International School for offering computer training for teachers.
Mr Axolu said British Council has provided the GES with computers for ICT training for pupils.
Mr Wilfred Ayi Owen, Director of the school asked stakeholders to help in the promotion of female sports.
Mr Frank Bowen, Special Teacher of St Jonhsburg Academy and Leader of the delegation said FOR-ONE-WORLD has adopted Ayisatu International School, to harness its potential.
Mr Bowen said the support would travel for more than two years as an exchange programme to facilitate academic excellence.
At a meeting with heads of departments, agencies and decentralised departments, Madam Julian Mutaah, Gender Desk Officer of the Municipal Assembly briefed the delegation of the decentralisation policy and components for good governance.
She called on NGOs to support the assembly in waste management which has been a major challenge facing the Municipality.
Mr Badu Kaakyire, Headmaster of Ayisatu Owen International School said the school has a population of 474 students, made up of 269 in nursery to primary Primary Two whilst the Upper Primary, which starts from Primary Three to Junior High School has an enrollment of 206 pupils.
