Tigo Cash has been awarded "Best Mobile Money Product in West Africa" at the 2013 Kalahari Awards in Lagos, Nigeria.
This award is given to organisations that have made significant contribution to the mobile financial sector and are poised to change the market landscape in the near future.
A statement to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday said at this year’s Kalahari Awards, only eight categories existed of which Mobile Money, with a focus on innovation, was listed.
Tigo Cash, which was voted best, is unique among its core competitive base. "Firstly, it can be received by anyone on any network and secondly, over 600 claims from Tigo's Family Care Insurance product have been paid successfully through Tigo Cash since 2011."
The keenly contested Mobile Money category included telecommunication companies, independent Mobile Money providers as well as banks offering Mobile Money services, for which nine (9) entries from five (5) West African countries were shortlisted from several nominations.

The statement noted that it was not surprising that Tigo Cash had taken several steps recently to ensure that its innovations result in adoption and usage by her customers.

"Testimonies from Tigo Cash agents across the country also show that the product's success is far reaching and goes beyond her valued customers.
