Garden City Radio, a local FM Station of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in Kumasi, has honoured four of its former directors, seven serving workers and 21 clients in Ashanti for their dedicated service to the corporation.
The directors, who included Mr Harrison Afful, Alhaji Amadu Yeresa, Alhaji Chodi Mohammed and Madam Rosina Amaning, were presented with shield, certificate and citation.
Mr. William Ampem-Darko, Director-General of the GBC, said the corporation appreciated their contributions to the development of the Station.
He said the GBC would continue to maintain high professional standards to uplift the image of journalism and to improve the socio-economic and political development of the country.
He called on the staff to work assiduously to enable the GBC achieve its objectives.
Mr George Adu-Boampong, Ashanti Regional Director of the GBC, said coverage of the Station cuts across Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo Regions and parts of the Western and Northern Regions and the La Cote d'Ivoire.
He said the success was due to the commitment of GBC management to reach out to many people with their educative and entertaining programmes.
He expressed worry about the unreliable power supply by the Electricity Company of Ghana, which disrupted some radio programmes and called on corporate bodies to assist the Station with stand-by generators.
