The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is to initiate talks between the chiefs of Anyako, in the Keta Municipal Area and the Ghana Water Company (GWC) on the rehabilitation of the Anyako pumping station.
This is to ease the acute water shortage at Anyako, Konu and Seva and the environs.
Mr Henry Ametefe, Volta Regional NADMO Director, presenting four large capacity water reservoirs to the community at Anyako on Friday, said there was the need for talks to end the acute water shortage facing the area.
A youth group, seven years ago sacked workers of the GWC manning the water station, assumed management but failed to meet the technical challenges leading to the facility's collapse two years ago.
Mr Ametefe said he would suggest to the GWC to connect Anyako and surrounding areas to other stations at nearby Heluvi and Sasieme if the Anyako station could not be revamped.
Mr Joe Fiatowoli Aidam, a representative of the chief of Anyako, condemned NADMO for the initiative.
He said "We are in a difficult situation and have learnt our lessons. We appeal for forgiveness from the company to end difficulties of women and children".
Mr Sylvester Tornyeava, Keta Municipal Chief Executive, said the assembly was collaborating with other organizations including NADMO to tackle the Anyako water situation.
NADMO presented similar tanks to Atiavi also in the Keta Municipal Area and Afife in the Ketu North District at separate functions.
