The Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council has banned children from watching video in public and dressing indecently.
The Council has said anyone who flouts the ban would be severely punished.
The new Omanhene of the Ajumako Traditional Area and President of the Council, Nana Obrempong Yamfo Krampah XI, announced this when he met the chief of Gomoa Achiase with his people, as part of his two-week familiarization tour of communities in his area.
Nana Krampah is accompanied on his tour by some divisional chiefs from the Traditional Area.
He said the imposition of the ban was to stem out immorality and to promote education in the Gomoa West and East Districts.
The Omanhene asked the people to cooperate to ensure the success of ban to help promote education and instil disciple among the youth.
He expressed concern about the poor performance of children in Basic Education Certificate Examinations; high rate of school dropouts; and teenage pregnancy in the Gomoa District and urged the people to help reverse the negative trend.
The Omanhene stressed that the Traditional Council would collaborate with the Regional Coordinating Council and the Gomoa West and East District Assemblies to create job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
The Omanhene urged the pupils and students in the area to take their studies seriously to enable them to achieve academic laurels and to become prominent future citizens.
He also advised the youth to take advantage of the Youth in Agriculture Programme by the government and form cooperatives to enable them to solicit financial assistance to improve their farms.
Nana Okru Baah, Chief of Gomoa Achiase, made a passionate appeal through the Omanhene to the Gomoa East District Assembly to revive the old market at Kwame Adwen, near Gomoa Afransi, to improve upon revenue generation of the assembly and also save them from travelling long distances to access markets.
Nana Okru Baah stated that the assembly could not constantly rely on the District Common Fund to undertake development projects, adding that, there was the need to create a market at Gomoa Afransi and other big towns to increase revenue.
