Members of the Assin Fosu local branch of the Progress Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) have appealed to the Central Regional Minister, Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, to stop alleged interference from
Mr Alex Bonsiako, the Assin North Municipal Chief Executive, to enable them operate in the Municipality.
The Reverend James Takyi, the branch Chairman, said the Assin North Municipal Assembly asked them to operate at the lorry park together with the
Assin Fosu Number 03 branch of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).
He alleged that members of GPRTU were giving them problems so PROTOA members left the park for a private lorry park to avoid confusion and
bloodshed.
The Rev Takyi said Mr Bonsiako vowed he would not allow them to operate at the place and that he was using the police to harass them to prevent them
from operating there.
He said Mr Bonsiako sent the Assin North Municipal Police Commander to sack them from the lorry park, claiming it was close to the road and was therefore dangerous.
Mr Bonsiako denied the allegations PROTOA made against him members.
He said PROTOA did not make any complain to the Municipal Security Council that the situation at the lorry park was not good and that the
drivers left there unceremoniously.
Mr Bonsiako assured the drivers that if they channelled their grievances to the assembly something would be done to promote peace and development.
