Mr. Thomas Osei-Bonsu, Asante-Akim North Municipal Chief Executive, has entreated nurses to be sensitive to the plight of patients and treat them with respect.
He said that proper treatment of patients at the hospital could facilitate their recovery.
Mr. Osei-Bonsu was addressing the Students' Representative Council week celebration of the Ghana Nurse and Midwife Trainees Association of Agogo Presbyterian Nurses Training College.
This year's celebration, which was on the theme: "Healthy life in a healthy environment", was used to raise funds to support the College.
Mr. Osei-Bonsu condemned the inhuman treatment against patients at some health facilities, which he said undermined the ethics of the nursing profession.
He called on the trainees to accept postings to the rural areas after their training.
Madam Comfort Amoaniwaa, a Senior Nursing Officer at the Hospital, appealed to the trainees to work hard to uplift the image of their profession.
