Thieves broke into a Herbal Clinic at Kade and made away with two television sets and two video decks.
Following the theft, Kwabena Atta, an ex-convict, who claimed to be a trader and who was found loitering around the premises without reasonable excuse had been arrested and put before the Kade District Magistrate Court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Iliasu.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in Police custody to re-appear on June 21.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, said during the last week of April, the complainant, Isaac Kofi Boateng, the Herbal Doctor, in charge of the clinic, travelled to Akyem Oda and entrusted the clinic under the care of his son, Frank Boateng.
On May 05, at about 08.00 hours, Frank visited the clinic only to detect that thief or thieves had broken into it through the rear window and made away with two television sets
valued at GHC 200 and two video sets valued at GHC 140 all to the tune of GHC 340.
A report was therefore made to the Police and while investigations were going on, a witness informed the Police that he spotted Atta loitering around the premises during the night of May 05.
The witness said he saw the accused at three different times at about 2000 hours, between 2330 hours and 12 midnight and again between 0130 hours and 0200 hours on May 05, but did not see him entering the clinic to steal.
Upon that information, Atta was arrested and after investigation, he was charged with the offence of loitering around the clinic without reasonable excuse.
The accused pleaded alibi, saying he was at Akwatia on the night of the incident so the Magistrate asked the Police to investigate the alibi.
