A woman who allowed her premises to grow weedy with some human excreta found around, was on Tuesday sentenced to a fine of GHC 72 by the Asamankese Circuit Court.
In default, Adwoa Darkoa, who pleaded guilty, will go to prison for two weeks.
The judge, Mr Emmanuel Siameh, ordered the convict to abate the nuisance.
According to Mr Samuel Danso, the Environmental Health Officer, on March 25, officers from the Environmental Health Unit on their usual rounds to ensure sound sanitation went to the premises of Adwoa.
They found that not only was the place weedy, but there were also faeces which attracted flies.
The officers issued her with notice to appear at the office of the Environmental Health Unit at Asamankese to explain why legal action should not be taken against her.
She however ignored the notice and failed to appear, so criminal summons were issued to her on May 18 to appear in court on May 26.
When she failed to show to up in court, a bench warrant was issued, and with the help of the police she was arrested and put before court.
