Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) Ladies on Friday presented items worth GH500 and a cash of GH100 to the Childrens Ward of the Bolgatanga Hospital.
The items include plastic plates and cups, cocoa beverages, milk, disinfectants, biscuits and toiletries.
Madam Lilly Amoro, Local President of the Bolgatanga Collection of CEPS Ladies Club, urged women in the Upper East Region to endeavour to contribute their quota towards improving the health status of mothers and children.
She noted that women had various gifts and talents which when put together, could help strengthen the health of mothers and their children and reduce the high rate of maternal and infant mortality in the region.
Madam Amoro said it was part of the clubs social responsibility to help society and they chose the children because they needed help most.
Dr John Koku Awoonor-Williams, Upper East Regional Director of Health Services, who received the items, thanked the club and said it would be put to good use to benefit the children.
He mentioned the high maternal and infant mortality rate in the region, saying that the Health Service was doing all it could to improve the situation.
He appealed to organisations, groups and individuals to collaborate with the Service and help it to deliver quality healthcare to the people.
