Mr Alphonse Achkar, Governor of District 403-A of the Lions Club International (LCI), a community service organization, has called for commitment on the part of members to deliver quality service to communities.

Mr Achkar who is the new Governor of the Club, made the call at a press conference in Accra on Sunday to outline his vision for the 2010 to 2011 season, on arrival in the national capital to start a week-long tour of the Clubs' projects in the country.

He pledged to embark on a campaign to increase membership of the Africa region of the LCI to at least 30,000 which is required to grant it a constitutional status, to be represented on the international Board of the LCI.
Mr Achkar gave the assurance that his administration would work to improve on information sharing among members, adding the Club had been doing enough but much was not known about its activities.
As part of his itinerary, Mr Achkar would later in the week, visit Cape Coast to inaugurate a Hearing Aid and Assessment Center for Cape Coast School for the Deaf and also open a new chapter of the Club in Kumasi, bringing to 13 the number of LCI chapters in Ghana.
