Two companies on Wednesday made a cash donation and chemicals to the Ministry of Agriculture towards the 2017 National Farmers’ Day (NFD) commemoration slated for December 1.
Unibank donated GH?50,000.00 whilst Rainbow Agro Science Company presented 38 boxes of chemicals made up of herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. Mr Clifford Duke Mettle, Executive Director of Unibank, presenting the amount, said the bank focuses its drive on things that would help the nation to develop; saying for the country to industrialize there was the need to have a solid agricultural base.
He said “it was about time, as a country we move and focus on agriculture and the industrial sector, by creating the enabling environment for the youth to develop interest in it”. He said they have been supporting the Ministry over the years and hopes that, their partnership would grow stronger in the near future.
Mr George Ocloo, Technical Manager of Rainbow Science Company Limited said the company was very privileged to be part of those supporting farmers and fishermen in the country. He expressed the hope that the nation’s farmers and fishermen would be encouraged to continue feeding the people of Ghana.
Dr Sagre Bambamgi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, in charge of crops, receiving the items expressed the Ministry’s appreciation to the companies for their kind gesture towards supporting this year’s farmer’s day celebration, as well as promoting the work of the Ministry. He said the Ministry was working tirelessly towards fashioning out initiatives that would drive the youth to go into the agriculture sector.
The theme for this year’s event is “Planting for Food and Jobs,”
Dr. Nurah Gyele, Minister of State at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Chairman of the 2017 NFD Planning Committee’s working document made available to the Ghana News Agency revealed the award package for sponsors as: Platinum Sponsor: GH?50,000.00 and above. The sponsors would get acknowledgement in the media, advertise company’s logo on sponsors’ billboard at the durbar for telecast, and advertise company logo in event brochure, plague and special certificate of sponsorship at the Sponsors’ Awards Night.
The rests are full page colour print company advert with felicitation message to farmers and fishers in the National Farmers’ Day brochure, photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture for the media, and branding of some sections of the principal route to and outside perimeter of durbar ground.
Gold sponsor: GH?50,000.00 to GH?30,000.00; would have their company logo advertise in event brochure and a half page colour print company advert with felicitation message to farmers and fishers in the National Farmers Day Brochure.
Silver sponsors: GH?30,000.00 to GH?10,000.00 would also get acknowledgement in the media; advertise company’s logo on sponsor’s billboard at the durbar ground for telecast, special certificate of sponsorship at the Sponsors’ Awards Night and photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture for the media.
Bronze sponsors: GH?10,000.00 and below would get acknowledgement in the media, special certificate of sponsorship at the Sponsors’ Awards Night as well as photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture for the media.
