The chiefs and people of the affected Ullo communities have been making repetitive appeals to successive governments to be connected to the national electricity grid but to no avail.

Naa Alhaji Baburonon Amadu Seidu II, the Paramount Chief of Ullo Traditional Area, said this when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo called on the people as part of his tour of the region to interact with the inhabitants on progress of government interventions to alleviate poverty.

The chief expressed worry that some communities in the neighborhood were still without electricity even though the transformers have been lying there for over a decade.

He appealed for immediate action in order to get those communities hooked unto the national grid.

The population of the community and the Ullo Senior High School (SHS) has grown in recent times, putting pressure on access to potable water and demand for other social amenities.

“It is very pathetic to see students wake up at dawn to search for water, both in the community and nearby communities due to lack of water in the school,” Naa Seidu II said.

“A Small Town Water System for the community ‘has remained in the pipeline’ since 2012”, he said.

The school has various challenges including the absence of a dining hall, administrative block, assembly hall and uncompleted GETFund projects amongst others.

Naa Seidu II also appealed for the upgrade of the Ullo Clinic to help health personnel deliver quality service to communities.
