According to the GNFS Comparative Trend Report, the cost of damage in the first half of 2025 stood at GH¢188.4 million, compared to GH¢60.4 million in 2024.

A total of 3,595 fire incidents were recorded between January and June 2025, representing a marginal increase of 0.53 per cent from the 3,576 incidents in the same period of 2024.

Regionally, the Accra Region recorded 628 fire cases in 2025, down from 708 in 2024. Ashanti Region followed with 581 cases (658 in 2024), while Eastern Region saw an increase, recording 408 in 2025 compared to 358 in 2024.

Prank calls to the GNFS saw a significant decline of 34.77 per cent, dropping from 364,020 in 2024 to 237,470 in 2025. "This remarkable decline is largely due to deliberate and intensive public awareness campaigns, highlighting the dangers of prank calls and sensitization on the legal consequences of pranking emergency services," the GNFS noted. Domestic fires remained the most prevalent, accounting for 1,320 cases (36.7 per cent), followed by bush fires at 618 (17.2 per cent), and commercial fires at 579 (16.1 per cent).

Electrical fires totalled 434 (12.1 per cent), vehicular fires 311 (8.7 per cent), and other types 201 (5.6 per cent).

In comparison, the same period in 2024 recorded 1,281 domestic fires (35.8 per cent), 608 bush fires 
(17 per cent), 555 commercial fires (15.5 per cent), 480 electrical fires (13.4 per cent), and 294 vehicular fires (8.2 per cent).

Institutional fires accounted for 147 (4.1 per cent), while industrial fires represented 0.3 per cent.
From January to June 2025, the GNFS attended to 327 road traffic accidents, which resulted in 223 deaths and 1,262 injuries.

This marked an increase from 2024 figures, where 285 accidents led to 128 deaths and 1,095 injuries.
