The UK branch Women Fellowship of the Ghana Methodist Church, has presented items worth 3000 GH cedis to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital for the upkeep of patients.
The items, which were presented to the hospital in Accra, included bags of rice, cooking oil, disinfectants and toiletries.
Mrs Suzana Hagan-Anobil, President of the Fellowship, who made the presentation, said it formed part of the fellowship's project of reaching out to the needy and the neglected in society.
She said this year's presentation was second in the series and it was embarked upon following the fellowship's visit to the hospital two years ago, which revealed that patients were neglected in terms support from the society.
Receiving the items, Mrs Ethel Lartey, Deputy Director of Nursing at the Hospital commended the fellowship for the initiative.
She said the items would go a long way to complement the efforts at maintaining the 1,060 patients currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
She appealed to philanthropic and organisations to emulate the gesture of the Methodist Women Fellowship UK branch to donate to the hospital.
