A 22-year-old petty trader who allegedly collected GH¢ 30,000 from a fridge mechanic under the pretext of securing him a United State of America visa but failed to do so was on Wednesday put before a Circuit Court in Accra.
Naomi Mensah Bonsu charged with defrauding by false pretences pleaded not guilty and she was remanded into Police custody to reappear on December 15.
Chief Inspector Mary Adika said accused and the complainant Mr Benjamin Adjetei reside at Madina a suburb in Accra.
In February this year, Naomi approached Mr Adjetei, who was in need of USA visa to travel that she could help him secure one through some visa contractors.
Naomi succeeded in collecting GH¢ 30,000 which she allegedly gave to the visa contractor but she could not trace them.
Prosecution said the complainant waited for some months to obtain his visa or money but he received none. On 26 November this year, a report was made to the police and Naomi was arrested.
In her cautioned statement, Naomi admitted collecting the money and alleged that she handed them over to Akua, Mummy and Comfort whom she could not identify to the Police.
