Samuel Enyan Danso, a farmer, on Monday appeared before the Asamankese Circuit Court charged with possessing a wrapper of Indian hemp.
Danso pleaded not guilty to possessing a narcotic drug without lawful authority.
Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri, prosecuting, told the court that on August 7, 2008 at about 0730 hours, the Asamankese Police had a tip-off that some people were smoking Indian hemp in a house at a suburb of Asamankese.
She said the Police, therefore, proceeded to the spot and arrested Danso in whose pocket a wrapper of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found.
On interrogation Danso denied ownership of the wrapper, which was later sent to the Police crime laboratory for analysis.
A report later received confirmed that the stuff was Indian hemp weighing 2.8 grams and Danso was accordingly charged and arraigned.
