Mr Kwaku Agyiri, Managing Director of the Budget Cash and Carry Limited, has been installed the Mawerehene of the Akuapem Traditional Area under the stool name Nana Kwaku Agyiri Aggrey.
Nana Agyiri Aggrey, who is also the Nkosuohene of Anomabo in the Central Region sworn the oath of allegiance to the Okuapemhene, Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III, at Akropong on Wednesday.
He pledged to help move the development agenda of Akuapem to the highest level by way of improving education and solving the youth unemployment in the area.
Nana Agyiri Aggrey assured that he would partner with the traditional council and the Akuapem North District Assembly to find a lasting solution to the perennial water problem of the area and called for total support from all.
He said there was the need to apply methods that could enhance unity to enable the area to maintain its existing peaceful atmosphere.
He said it was unfortunate that the chieftaincy institution had been engulfed with disputes all over the country, including the Akuapem area and promised that he would have consultations with all the other chiefs who matter and to ensure unity.
Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa urged Ghanaians to unite as one people with a common destiny and forge for unity at all times.
He said the nation could develop only when there was unity among the various ethnic groupings and condemned those preaching about ethnocentrism.
Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa said Ghana did not belong to any particular ethnic group; therefore there was the need for all Ghanaians to see themselves as brother and sisters.
Earlier in the day, the chairperson for the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Reverend Dr Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, paid a courtesy call on Okuapemhene.
