The Syrian government endorsed Wednesday a new plan for political settlement put forward by President Bashar al-Assad, the state-run SANA news agency said.
During a cabinet meeting Wednesday, the government ordered the formation of a ministerial committee headed by Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi to put into action Assad's political program.
The Syrian administration also called on the countries swaying on the gunmen to refrain from supporting, harbouring or funding those groups in order to preserve the Syrian blood and the sovereignty of Syria.
The cabinet also put the foreign ministry in charge of establishing regional and international liaisons to explain the political program and garner support for it.
The cabinet has been convening over the past couple of days to materialize Assad's new plan proposed last week that includes a cease-fire, followed by a comprehensive national dialogue conference and the establishment of a broad-based government and parliament.
However, the Syrian opposition said the plan is not enough to be a roadmap of a political process that could end the country's crisis.
