One of Ghana's telecommunications giant, Tigo, has feasted several inmates at the children's ward of the Tamale teaching hospital a day before New Year 2013.
Regarding Tigo's current promotion "Smile," the feast was necessitated to bring smiles to the faces of the children who were left out in the festive season celebrations as a result of their admission at the hospital.
Several Tigo staff who participated in the ceremony tool turns to interact with the children at the ward and also presented them with play toys, food and drinks and other souvenirs whilst workers on duty at the time were also presented with Tigo branded souvenirs
Presenting the items to the medical officer in charge at the children's ward, the Northern Territory activation manager, Loius said, the gesture is one of Tigo's cooperate social responsibility to give back to society especially on the occasion of a festive celebration like Christmas, Tigo perceived it appropriate to spend time with the little ones on admission at the hospital who were left out in the celebration.
He said this is the first but would not be the last Tigo shall extend their support on an occasion like Christmas to the children's ward of the hospital.
The Activation Manager ceased the opportunity to announce Tigo's continuous support to the needy and also promise better service delivery to their customers in his catchment area. He entreated customers and potential customers to join Tigo to enjoy the current promotion, "Smile" and other existing offers.
Receiving the items, Dr Sylvester Danso, the medical officer in charge of the children's ward thanked Tigo for the surprised gesture and hoped that other philanthropists and corporate organizations would emulate the gesture to aid the ward of some of its challenges.
Dr Danso mentioned Malnutrition as a major reported case at the children's ward, whilst blaming the cause on parents and lack of public education, he therefore called on parents to balance the diet of their wards to prevent the rampant occurrence of mal-nutrition and also called for intensified public education on mal-nutrition to sensitize particularly the local folks on how to prevent mal-nutrition among their wards.
