Mr Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive (DCE), has urged Assembly Members to unite and initiate development programmes to improve the living standards of the people.
He appealed to them to eschew negative practices and attitudes that could divide them, since it can have adverse effects on the
development of the district.
Mr Agyei-Dwomor was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Busunya, over the weekend.
He expressed his regret that some Members of the immediate past Assembly “played politics” with the Assembly’s concept, which created
divisions within the rank and file of the Assembly.
Mr Agyei-Dwomor described the situation as uncalled for and a bitter experience for the new district, since the problem seriously impeded the development of the communities.
The DCE called on the new as well as the re-elected Assembly Members to team up and support the management of the Assembly to work
to move the district forward.
He said such a support would enable them to maintain the trust and confidence of the people.
Mr Agyei-Dwomor noted that the Assembly’s revenue mobilization had not been encouraging, as the revenue collectors failed to meet their targets.
He advised the Assembly Members to educate the people to honour their tax obligations and also to encourage and assist the revenue
collectors to improve on their performance.
Meanwhile, The Nkoranza North District Assembly, in collaboration with Community Water and Sanitation Agency (WATSAN), is providing 38
boreholes in 24 communities in the district.
Mr Agyei-Dwomor said the Assembly was undertaking a number of development projects in the communities, which is being funded by the
District Development Facility Fund (DDF) and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).
He said the projects included school blocks, health facilities and market development structures for Dromankese and Busunya markets.
Nana Osei Asiedu, Presiding Member, commended the Assembly Members for attending the meeting in their numbers and advised them to
maintain their cooperative spirit to promote the growth of the district.
He urged them to live above reproach and work together so that they can leave a good legacy of a strong foundation for the development of the district.
