Officials of Turkish sports kit manufacturers, FitCom have arrived in Ghana to formalise a sponsorship agreement with 62 Ghanaian clubs.
Mr. Demirkaya Tunahan, General Manager of Fitcom and Ertemcoz Serdar, Fitcom Agent to Africa arrived in Accra on Monday, ahead of the signing ceremony and launch on Thursday, May 9.
The deal brokered by Nana Yaw Amponsah, founder and chairman of Division One side Phar Rangers and an aspirant to the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is the biggest in the world’s history.
The beneficiary clubs are spread across Premier League, Division One League and women’s league sides.
Nearly all the clubs have received samples of the kit, with Thursday’s event set to bring together all 62 clubs, who have accepted the offer to be kitted by the Turkish giants whose ultramodern facility manufactures for brands like Jako, Kappa, Ulmsport and for great teams in the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, Turkish Superliga.
The clubs include Eleven Wonders, Bechem United, Karela FC, New Edubiase, B.A. United, Nea Salamina, Achiken FC, King Faisal, Nkoranza Warriors, Sporting Mirren, Nania FC, and Nania FC, Immigration Ladies, Sea Lions and Fabulous Ladies.
According to Nana Amponsah, the sponsorship deal is expected to provide the individual clubs with a set of home kit, a set of away kit, a set of training kit, a set of tracksuit, polo shirts and bags at no financial cost to the clubs.
The sponsorship is expected to start from the 2019/20 league season.
