The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has sponsored the training of 364 youth from his constituency in dreadlocks, wrap locks, Rasta-twist, braids in cap, wig making, styling and locks management.
The two-week programme, which was facilitated by Chelsea Abigail Owusu-Ansah, Guiness Book of Records Holder for the most leads, was aimed at equipping the participants with employable skills.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the programme at Oda last Friday, Mr Acquah said the programme was aimed at reducing the high rate of unemployed youth in the constituency.
Mr Acquah said the training programme was the second he had organised this year to equip the youth in the area with employable skills, adding that early this year, he trained more than 300 youth in information communication technology (ICT).
Mr Acquah stressed that his major preoccupation as a legislator was to reduce the unemployment problem in his constituency through the provision of of employable skills for the youth.
He promised to make the training programme a regular feature so as to benefit more unemployed youth in the area.
The MP advised the participants not only to put what they had learnt into practice, but they should also try to train more unemployed youth with the employable skills.
Madam Owusu-Ansah praised the participants for the seriousness they exhibited at the training and urged them to exhibit such qualities in their acquired profession.
She and the MP distributed certificates to the participants.
The participants were grateful to Mr Acquah for his commitment to reduce the unemployment rate in the area and urged other MPs to take a cue from him.
