The Awadada of Anlo, Togbe Agbeshie Awusu III, has led a delegation to extend a formal invitation to President John Dramani Mahama for the 2025 Hogbetsotso Festival.
The annual festival, a vibrant celebration of Anlo heritage and culture, is expected to be elevated to new heights this year.
Calling on the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Mr Julius Debrah, Togbe Agbeshie Awusu III emphasized the importance of taking the 2025 Hogbetsotso Festival and how it showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Anlo state while fostering unity and development.
“We want to take this year’s festival to another level, and we will need the collaboration of government,” he told the Chief of Staff.
The Awadada also expressed the Anlo chiefs’ eagerness to partner with the government in its ambitious “Reset Agenda” policy, aimed at transforming Ghana’s socio-economic landscape.
“We want to be involved in whatever government wants to do in the area to reset the Anlo state and Ghana at large,” he said.
The chiefs, he noted, are ready to offer their wisdom and resources to ensure the success of this transformative agenda in the Anlo state and beyond.
In a heartfelt moment, Togbe Agbeshie Awusu III used the opportunity to express gratitude to President Mahama for appointing Ewe individuals to key government positions.
He praised the competence of these appointees, stating, “Our sons are competent, and I believe whatever task they have been given, they will work hard and deliver.”
In a response, the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah expressed appreciation for the chiefs’ visit and their gesture of gratitude for the appointments.
He reassured the delegation that the Anlo state would not be overlooked in the government’s Reset Agenda or its development projects.
Mr Debrah further acknowledged the invaluable role of traditional leaders in nation-building, noting that “chiefs carry wisdom, and their wisdom will be needed in the reset agenda for the development of the Anlo state and Ghana at large.”
He affirmed the government’s recognition of the chiefs ’ contributions to fostering peace, unity, and progress in their communities.
