About 708 residents within the Adenta Municipality and its environs have benefited from a free health screening exercise organised by the Rotary Club of Accra-Adenta.
It was also aimed at making healthcare accessible to residents of Adenta and nearby communities, particularly vulnerable groups such as children under five and the elderly above 70.
It attracted hundreds of residents who benefited from free medical screening, health education and other healthcare services.
Beneficiaries were screened for conditions such as breast cancer, Hepatitis B, glucose, high blood pressure, malaria and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks.
Also, there was blood donation, NHIS registration and renewal, HIV testing, and mosquito net distribution.
The beneficiaries were given free medications, while those identified with complications were referred to appropriate health facilities for further care.
Held on the theme: “Rotary Promotes Good Health and Well-being for All”, it aligned with Rotary International’s focus on disease prevention and treatment.
The Rotaract Club of Adenta Central and seven other Rotary Clubs partnered to do the health screening.
The partner clubs were Rotary and Rotaract clubs under District 9104, namely Rotary Clubs of Accra-Adenta, Accra Sunrise, Akuapem Ridge, Accra Roman Ridge, Kumasi Premier International, Tema Sunshine, Accra Odadee AOGA and Rotaract Club of Adenta Central.
The Trust Hospital in Adenta, the Adenta Shopping Centre (MMC Property Management Ltd), the Adenta Municipal Assembly, the Adenta Municipal Health Directorate, the National Blood Service (Korle-Bu) and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) supported the exercise.
The President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Adenta, Rotarian Samuel Kwabena Asare, said the initiative was to bring quality health delivery to the doorsteps of the residents.
He said the outreach was the club’s commitment to improve community health through partnership and service and, therefore, thanked all partners and volunteers for the support.
