Madam Cecilia Abenaa Dapaah, Minister of State, Works, Housing and Water Resources, on Saturday donated security items worth GH¢4,800 to the newly inaugurated Adoato Neighbourhood Watch Committee in Kumasi.
The items included uniforms, truncheons, raincoats, reflectors, rechargeable torch lights, caps and Wellington boots.
The Minister inaugurated the Committee, which comprised 30 members.
Madam Dapaah, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama said the gesture was to support Committee to help the police to clamp down on criminal activities in the area.
She commended members for devoting themselves to task and urged them to report any suspicious person to the police.
The Minister also advised them to be honest and transparent in the performance of their duties and also cooperated with the police to check criminal activities.
Mr Bernard Juantuah Amofa, Chairman of the Committee, who received the items thanked the Minister for the gesture and pledged to make good use of them.
He gave the assurance that the members would work hard to ensure that criminal activities were reduced to the barest minimum.
Mr Ibrahim Yakubu, Secretary of the Committee, extended gratitude and appreciation to the Suntreso Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) James Annor, for his moral support and assistance to the committee.
He appealed to landlords in the areas to ensure that people paid their monthly contributions to support the activities of the Committee.
