Two people died on the spot while three others sustained various degrees of injuries in a motor accident at Akim Osino in the Fanteakwa District on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Papa Tetteh and Tetteh Nanor, while the injured were Isaac Tetteh, Kwame Tetteh and Kwadwo Tetteh.
The accident involved a tipper truck with registration number ER 220 W driven by one Larweh Franklin, and a taxi cab.
Madam Afua Korang, an eye witness told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the tipper truck from Bunso Junction entered the main Accra-Kumasi highway without slowing down and in the process run into the taxi on the highway.
She said two out of the five people in the taxi cab with registration number GT 7795 S, died instantly with the three others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
Madam Korang said with the assistance of bystanders the three people were rescued and rushed to the Kibi Government Hospital.
Police Sergeant Kwasi Tetteh of the Akim Osino Police Station confirmed the story and said the accident victims were returning from a funeral.
