Over 1,000 delegates from Africa attending the 9th Annual Congress of Remar Association International, a Christian organisation, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, have organized a prayer session for free, fair and peaceful elections in Ghana.
The participants offered special prayers for the presidential candidates and their supporters asking God to direct them to put Ghana first in all things.
They also prayed that the outcome of the elections be acceptable to all.
The Reverend Ouedraogo Baovawagre, Country Director of Remar Ghana, who led the prayers, said it was incumbent on them as Christians to invoke the peace of God that transcended every human understanding to prevail in Ghana during and after the elections.
He said, the Holy Scriptures entreated Christians to carry one another's burden, hence, it was not out of place for sister Africans to pray for Ghana during this crucial moment.
"Remember Remar has several centres dotted all over Ghana where many lives are been transformed," Rev. Baovawagre said.
"This means that any act of instability in Ghana would impact negatively on our smooth and effective operations in the country," he added.
The Rev. Ted Topper of Zion Ministries in Burkina Faso, who was the Guest Speaker, addressing the theme of the congress "The Holy Spirit", said it was only the spirit of God that could help man to overcome the numerous challenges they faced.
He said God in His own wisdom and strength sent down the Holy Spirit to be man's comforter but most people ignored Him and tried to use their own wisdom and strength to address their situations which often turned out to be unsuccessful.
Rev. Topper urged all to accept the Holy Spirit so that He can guide them in everything including how to raise their children, wisdom to handle finances and live decent and befitting Christian lives.
He cautioned them not to indulge in acts like idolatry, adultery, indecent dressing and materialism that can grieve the Holy Spirit and subsequently compel Him to stop operating in them.
Some of the participating countries include Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger and Mali.
