A Circuit Court in Accra on Thursday remanded into police custody a 24 year-old carpenter for allegedly defiling a 14 year-old pupil.
Kwame Koomson, who is charged with defilement, pleaded not guilty.
He is to reappear on June 1.
The case as presented before the court presided over Mr C.A. Wilson by the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lawrence Gbele, is that about two months ago, the victim's grandmother, who is also the complainant, engaged the services of Koomson in her house to fix a door for her.
The prosecution said after the work, Koomson lured the victim into his room and had sex with her.
On May 3, at about 1800 hours Koomson went to the house of the complainant and again lured the victim into his room and had sex with her.
However, soon after the act, the victim started bleeding and the accused sensing danger, asked her to go home and warned her to keep the ordeal to herself.
When the victim reached home, her grandmother noticed some blood stains in her dress but when she was questioned, she did not open up.
The prosecution said the victim continued to bleed and her grandmother offered her sanitary pad.
The victim's condition worsened and at about 2230 hours her grandmother rushed her to the hospital.
The prosecution said it was at the hospital that the victim let the cat out of the bag.
The victim was transferred to the Police Hospital where she was on admission for three days.
