Prophet Samuel Kwesi Twumasi, the Founder and General Overseer of the Faith in God Healing Church (FGHC), has appealed to politicians to put “Ghana first†in the course of their campaigns such that their utterances would not plunge the country into chaos before, during, and after the December polls.
He made the appeal at the head quarters of the church at Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District during the one year anniversary celebration and three days Christmas Convention of the Church.
It was under the theme "Glorifying God for peace in election 2012" and was attended by members from 21 branches of the church.
Prophet Twumasi noted that each of the candidates contesting for the various positions was qualified and appealed to those who would be defeated to accept the results in good faith.
Lamenting on devastating effects of wars and chaos as a result of upheavals, Prophet Twumasi said people would not have the freedom to worship their God if war should break out.
He therefore urged pastors to go on their knees every day for God's divine intervention and favour for every form of tension to go down and allow peace to prevail.
Prophet Twumasi said religious leaders owed it as a duty to be bold and bring to order any politician who in his quest to win political power would either stand on the platform or use the mass media to plunge Ghana into confusion.
"Whether that person is from Government or in opposition, it is our responsibility as men of God to have courage to condemn the person or prosperity will not forgive us" Prophet Twumasi stressed.
Ghanaian politicians and supporters he emphasized ought to be circumspect in their utterances and put Ghana first since they cannot rule Ghana and its people in the midst of war.
A leader and Head Prophet of Christ Faith Word Church International at Nazareth, Akroso, Prophet Nana Kusi Afram Tawiah ll, cautioned men of God to refrain from engaging in partisan politics since taking the stand could land their own churches into confusion.
He rather advised religious leaders to concentrate in preaching the word of God and pray for national cohesion and peace at all times.
