President John Dramani Mahama has congratulated Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for receiving the Distinguished Fellow Award from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), describing the honour as “well deserved.”
In a Facebook post on Saturday, March 14, President Mahama lauded Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s dedication to leadership and national development, expressing excitement over her latest achievement.
“Well deserved! Congratulations Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, my Vice President,” he wrote.
The Distinguished Fellow Award was conferred by the University of Cape Coast in recognition of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s exceptional service to the university and her significant contributions to governance and education in Ghana.
The accolade also celebrates her enduring relationship with UCC, where she has served as both an alumna and academic leader, shaping the institution and influencing the nation’s education sector.
During her acceptance speech, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reflected on the personal and professional impact the university has had on her life.
“There is something special about recognition that comes from home. This is where my higher education journey began and where my professional life took shape. It is one of the places where I learned that knowledge carries responsibility beyond oneself,” she said.
