President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday attributed the poor performance in the public service to poor supervision of subordinates at all levels of development.
He said: "I will hold all Ministers responsible, and I expect that you also hold your subordinates responsible to ensure that effective work is executed at the end of the day."
President Mahama announced this when he swore-in six Ministers of State and three Regional Ministers at the Flagstaff, Kanda.
The Ministers comprise Mr Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Ebenezer Kwodwo Teye Addo, Central Regional Minister and the Mr Bede Anwataa Zumo Ziedeng, Upper West Regional Minister.
The Ministers of State were made up of Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Alhassan Azong, Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Fifi Fiavi Franklin Kwetey, Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah and Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru.
To ensure proper monitoring and supervision in the public service, President Mahama said government would soon institute half year performance appraisal to ensure that all public servants performed creditably well.
He appealed to the Ministers of State to go into the field to acquire first hand information that would enhance the development goals of the country.
The President explained that there were over 50 agencies at the Presidency and therefore the appointment of Ministers of state was to cater for those agencies to work effectively.
Mr Pelpuo on behalf of his colleagues gave the assurance that they would work hard to justify their appointment.
