Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, has commended revenue collectors of the assembly for their efforts and team work that had led to a significant improvement in revenue collection.
He said through their efforts tax payers in the area had recognized the need to pay their taxes regularly and promptly.
Mr. Agyekum said this when he addressed the third ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the assembly at Nkoranza.
He said the assembly was able to mobilize GHC 67,746.66 representing 28.07 percent at the close of the first quarter out of a projected revenue
collection of GHC 241,308 for the year.
He appealed to assembly and unit committee members to assist revenue collectors so that the assembly would generate revenue to complete
development projects.
Mr. Agyekum said improvement in the assembly's Internally Generated Fund (IGF) would enable it to receive more funds from the District Assembly
Common Fund since the quantum of the common fund depended on the strength of the IGF.
He said the assembly's common fund allocation for the year was GHC 1,239,777.62 and would be released in four quarterly instalments.
Mr. Agyekum said a number of basic schools in the district were also to benefit from the school feeding programme.
