Ghana’s knockout machine, Delali Miledzi, is on the brink of the biggest fight of his career as he prepares to face Denmark’s fearsome Oliver Zaren for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental super-middleweight title on October 4 at the Herlev Hallen Arena.
The 33-year-old slugger is no stranger to fireworks — his 31-fight record boasts 29 knockouts, one loss and a draw — and he believes he has the power and experience to hand his 25-year-old opponent his first professional defeat.
Zaren is a 25-year-old southpaw with a frightening record of 17 fights, 17 wins, all by knockout. Yet, Miledzi insists the unbeaten Dane has finally met his match.
“This is the fight of my life,” Miledzi declared in a call to the Graphic Sports. “I am not afraid of him. He hasn’t faced anyone like me. On October 4, I will take him down and claim my first international title.”
The Ghanaian powerhouse is aware that winning in a hostile territory will not come easy, and has quietly relocated his camp with trainer Joseph Martey to an undisclosed location, shutting out all distractions ahead of the career-defining bout.
“I’ve been waiting my whole career for this chance. I’ve trained harder than ever, sharpened new skills, and I’m ready to shock the world,” he added.
Martey echoed the boxer's confidence, insisting their preparation was complete. “We may be fighting away from home, but we’re ready for anything. In boxing, one punch can change everything –– and if the knockout presents itself, we’ll take it.”
Miledzi’s manager and promoter, Anthony Kermah of Landmark Promotions, believes his charge is on the cusp of history.
“Everything is going to plan. Delali is ready, and he will bring glory to Ghana as the first man from this country to win the IBF Inter-Continental super-middleweight crown,” he said.
Kermah also urged Ghanaians to rally behind their fighter: “Keep him in your prayers and support him.
He’s carrying the flag of the nation, and I believe he will make us proud.”
