Mr. Alexander Ferkah, Assembly Member for Drobo-Baanafour-Kofiko-Nsuansa in Jaman South District has urged graduates of tertiary institutions to accept postings to work in the area.
"Your refusal to impart the knowledge, skills and moral principles you have acquired through education in deprived areas would deepen the low literacy level and falling moral standards in the area", he stressed.
However, he said, if they accepted the postings and helped the District Assembly would be able to offer scholarships to brilliant but needy students to also further their education.
Mr. Ferkah gave the advice at the annual New Year dinner and fund raising rally of Jaman Students Union at Drobo.
Mr. Ferkah charged the students to regard themselves as future leaders and advised them to study harder to achieve high academic laurels.
Speaking on the theme, "Grooming the youth of Jaman for future leadership", Mrs. Paulina Kwarfoaa, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast noted that "while some people are born leaders, others are endowed with leadership potentials".
She entreated the students to endeavour to grow to occupy responsible positions so they could guide their younger colleagues.
Mrs. Kwarfoaa expressed concern about the rate of indecent dressing among students in the area and cautioned them to avoid indulging in social vices.
Mr. Ameyaw Peprah, president of the Union, said the union had since its inception supported the District Assembly to increase revenue mobilisation through public education.
He said the union offered free classes for students during vacations and appealed to the Assembly to support it financially.
