Back To Your Village Food Festival
Festivals Information
In a fast-paced city where convenience often replaces tradition, many Ghanaians quietly long for the taste of home meals prepared slowly over firewood, seasoned with patience, and served with stories. On March 28 and 29, that longing will find expression as the Back to Your Village Festival returns, transforming Accra into a vibrant village setting that celebrates authentic Ghanaian food and culture. Accra, known for its modern skyline and cosmopolitan lifestyle, will momentarily trade its urban rhythm for the warmth of a traditional community atmosphere. The festival promises to recreate the simplicity and richness of village life through flavours that once defined everyday living. Organised by Channel One TV and powered by Citi FM, the two-day event is a major highlight of Heritage Month 2026. It will take place at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, running from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Interested vendors of indigenous foods are invited to register to be part of the experience by calling 0205973973. More than a food fair, the festival is positioned as a cultural homecoming, a deliberate return to time-honoured cooking techniques and indigenous recipes passed down through generations. From the northern savannas to the coastal belts and forest zones, the event will showcase dishes that define Ghana’s culinary identity. Patrons can expect favourites such as tuo zaafi with ayoyo soup, banku with okro stew, fufu served with light soup or palm nut soup, waakye, kenkey with pepper and fried fish, ampesi with kontomire stew, and omo tuo. Local delicacies, including akple, aprapransa, abolo and refreshing palm wine, will also feature prominently, offering attendees a true taste of home. Beyond the cuisine, the festival promises a lively blend of music, traditional dance, games and cultural performances designed to create a holistic experience for families and culture enthusiasts. Each participating group will proudly represent its heritage, using food as a storytelling tool that connects generations.Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, running from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
